Amit Shah to address a rally in North Tripura

Agartala, Apr 11  :  At a time when polling is undergoing in West Tripura parliamentary constituency, BJP national president Amit Shah is scheduled to address an election rally in favour of his East Tripura candidate Rabati Tripura at DNB school ground of Dharmanagar in North Tripura, bordering Assam.
Shah is scheduled to arrive here in a chartered aircraft around 1300 hrs from where he will be flying to Dharmanagar along with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma by Pawan Hangs chopper. He is scheduled to address the rally at around 1430 hrs.
Deputy Speaker of Tripura assembly Biswabandhu Sen said a large number of BJP supporters from Dhalai, Unokoti, North and part of Gomati and South Tripura districts have assembled in the ground since morning to listen to Shah and party has made safe shelter and refreshment for rally hoppers considering the forecast of rain.
The BJP party sources said saffron wave has been unabated across Tripura, as 1,583 voters from IPFT and CPM joined in BJP last evening in an election rally of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at Teliamura. The IPFT youth wing chief and the party’s first choice for West Tripura parliamentary constituency Shukla Charan Noatia whose nomination was cancelled returned back to IPFT within 24 hours of joining in Congress.
Noatia had joined in Congress accused IPFT president N C Debbaram and general secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia of cheating the sentiment of tribal people on the core issue of the party Tipraland and opposing Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. A day after he dramatically withdrew all of the statement made against IPFT leaders and BJP-IPFT government and sought apology for the mistake.
“I was with IPFT, I am with IPFT and I shall remain ever with IPFT and I regret the announcement of joining in Congress. I hope the leaders of my party will pardon me. There is no misunderstanding in the party,” Shukla restated to media today.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate in West Tripura Subal Bhowmik along with a hundred of his followers yesterday late night staged a surprise ‘dharna’ in front of Police Headquarters protesting against alleged police inaction in the wake of attacks on and intimidation of opposition candidates and workers.
“I have myself been attacked four times in only two weeks. But no police action was forthcoming despite formal complaints. This is unprecedented in the entire country”, Bhowmik alleged adding that inadequacy of security arrangements in and around the city before the elections.
