President administers oath of office to Justice PC Ghose as first Lokpal

New Delhi, March,23 :President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday administered the oath of office to Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose as Chairperson of Lokpal at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
Retired Supreme Court judge, Justice Ghose will be India’s first Lokpal, an anti-corruption ombudsman.
The Lokpal Act was passed by Parliament in 2013 for setting up a Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in States to look into cases of corruption.
A selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi picked Justice (retd) P C Ghose as the country’s first Lokpal.
