Student suffers minor injuries after wooden bridge collapses in Kupwara

A student suffered minor injuries after a wooden bridge connecting Shahabad village with the district headquarters in north Kashmir’s Kupwara collapsed on Saturday morning.

Reports said that several students on their way to a tuition centre were crossing the bridge when it collapsed today morning.

A student suffered minor injuries in the incident, they said.

A local said that the authorities had failed to construct a concrete bridge on Warnow Nallah (stream) despite their repeated pleas.

“In the absence of the bridge, the residents including children, women and elderly were forced to walk over these wooden planks,” said Mohammad Akbar.

He said the people of the area were concerned about their children who had to cross the wooden planks to reach their tuitions.
