05 Drug Peddlers arrested in Ganderbal; 15 KG poppy straw seized

Srinagar, Feb 13: Five persons were arrested today following an action against those involved in drug peddling in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Five persons were arrested for drug supply offences and have been taken to Police Station Safapora where they remain in custody.

This is a part of proactive action initiated by Ganderbal police against the drug peddlers of Central Kashmir.

Officers at the naka point have seized 15 kilograms of poppy straw from the Santro vehicle bearing registration number HRO9P 9454 in which five persons identified as Zubair Manzoor Shah son of Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Shahid Manzoor Manto son of Manzoor Ahmad Manto, Basharat Ahmad Das son of Mohammad Rafiq Das residents of Waghama Bijbehara, Shabir Ahmad Hajam son of Abdul Rashid Hajam and Arif Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh, both residents of Kurhama Ganderbal.

Case FIR No 02/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in PS Safapora.

SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS has appealed parents to take care of their children and make every possible effort to ensure that children are not lured to menace of drug addiction.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
