ADDC Ganderbal chairs meeting on implementation of Khelo India

Ganderbal, Aug 27: Continuing the efforts for promoting sports activities and active participation of young sportspersons of the district, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal N.A Baba, today said Khelo India Programme is aimed at inspiring youngsters to build mass participation and excellence in sports and groom them as future sports champions.

He called upon the youth to take up sports and sought active participation of young sportspersons, under Khelo India initiative, from across the district.

The ADDC stated this during a meeting held here at the ADDC office to promote sports activities in the district.

During the meeting, a tentative list of games was shortlisted including Volleyball, Cricket, Tug of War and Marshal Arts in which potential talent will be identified by experienced players and coaches.

The ADDC said district administration is paying focused attention to promote games by developing the sports infrastructure in all the Tehsils of the district to provide improved facilities to sportspersons.

It was said that the funds released for the Khelo India scheme will be used to provide soft support in terms of coaches, equipment, consumables, technical support, organizing competitions, etc at every block level.

The meeting was attended by ACD Ganderbal, DySP Headquarters Ganderbal, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Exen RDD Ganderbal and other concerned officials.
